Most Ringwood customers reach me one of two ways, either with a heap of branches they've cut themselves and now can't shift, or with a landscaping job that needs cubic metres of mulch dropped on the block. The chipper handles the first, the tipper the second, and I can do both in the one visit if it suits.

For on-site chipping I bring the machine to your place and run anything up to about 200mm through it. That covers prunings from a weekend in the garden, the green waste left after a fallen limb, or a tidy-up of an overgrown corner. The chip stays as a pile for you to use, or I load it back into the truck and it leaves with us, which beats trailer runs back and forth to the transfer station.

For mulch deliveries I keep three lines going, fresh hardwood chip off my own removals, good for paths, weed suppression and around established trees, aged composted mulch that's broken down enough to feed garden beds and new plantings, and a dyed landscape mulch in red or black where the look matters. Order by the cubic metre, dropped to the driveway across the Maroondah area. Add spreading to the quote if you'd rather not barrow it yourself.

What's included

  • On-site chipping of prunings and branches to around 200mm
  • Green waste cleanup after DIY pruning or storm damage
  • Chip left on site as mulch, or loaded out for haulage
  • Fresh hardwood mulch delivered by the cubic metre
  • Aged composted mulch for garden beds and new plantings
  • Dyed landscape mulch in red or black
  • Priced by volume, sold by the cubic metre
  • Spreading quoted as an extra on request

  • A bigger block needs mulch around trees and tank stands
Why locals choose us

Tree Removal in Ringwood, done properly

Qualified arborists with public liability insurance and a locally based crew. Quotes are written and itemised. Sites are left clean.

Fully insured

I hand over a current Certificate of Currency before work starts, without being asked. Check any crew for the same before they work over your roof or a neighbour's fence.

Qualified arborists

The person who quotes your tree is the person who works on it, trained to read decay, cracked unions and root damage rather than just run a saw. That's the difference between a tree saved and a tree sold for removal.

Same day response

Storm damage and hanging limbs get a visit within hours, not a spot in next week's queue. For standard work I'm on site within the week and the written quote follows straight after.

Locally based

I live and work around Maroondah, so I know which streets carry the old oaks and elms, how the sloping blocks move after rain, and what the council asks before a removal.

Careful pruning

Every reduction cut lands on a lateral big enough to take over, never a topping cut that forces weak regrowth. The tree holds its shape and you're not paying to fix it again in a few years.

Right equipment

Chipper, rigging kit and a narrow-access stump grinder travel on every job, with an elevated work platform or crane brought in when that's the safer way to take a tree down.

Mulching & Wood Chipping FAQs

How big a branch can the chipper take?

Up to about 200mm clean through, which covers most prunings and storm material. Anything thicker I cut into chunks first, then run the smaller pieces through. Trunk wood heavier than that usually gets cut into rounds and either kept for firewood, or quoted as a haulage line if you want it gone.

What's the difference between fresh and aged mulch?

Fresh chip comes straight off the chipper after a removal, mostly hardwood, holds moisture and locks weeds down, so it suits paths and the ground around established trees. Aged mulch has spent months breaking down in a heap, it's softer and darker, and it's gentle enough for garden beds and new plantings where fresh chip would temporarily rob the soil of nitrogen.

How much mulch should I order?

For a 75 to 100mm layer over a bed, one cubic metre covers roughly 10 to 13 square metres. Measure the bed in metres, multiply length by width, then divide by about 11 for a rough figure. Ring the dimensions through when you order and we'll work it out together so you're not left with half a load over.

Can the mulch be delivered and spread in Ringwood?

Yes, both. A tipper drop is the default, the truck backs up the driveway and tips the load where it can sit. If barrowing it isn't on the cards, add the spreading line and the crew rakes the mulch out across your beds before leaving. That works well for bigger jobs and for anyone who'd rather not shift it by hand.
